History
Logel Science Foundation has been operating and continues to operate, in Uganda since 2001. The organization traces its roots to an early research and development (R&D) initiative known as the “Log’el Project,” which was conceived to explore practical, locally grounded innovative solutions to real-world challenges through science and technology. The project received initial support from the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) under the Presidential Innovation Fund, a national mechanism designed to empower emerging and established innovators working on impactful solutions addressing pressing societal needs.
Through this support, the project was able to pilot ideas, build technical capacity, and demonstrate the value of innovation as a catalyst for inclusive development. The experience laid a strong foundation not only in research excellence but also in stakeholder engagement, systems thinking, and community-centered problem solving
Following the successful completion and maturation of the Log’el Project, the initiative transitioned into a fully established not-for-profit organization - Logel Science Foundation. The transition marked a strategic shift from a single innovation project to a broader institutional platform dedicated to bridging research-led innovation, technology development, and entrepreneurship.
Since its formal establishment, the Logel Science Foundation has grown from a bold idea into a living ecosystem of collaboration, learning, and transformation. What began as a vision to connect research with real-world impact gradually evolved into a platform where innovators, educators, and emerging leaders come together to shape solutions that matter.
Over the years, the Foundation has cultivated spaces where curiosity meets purpose - where a young innovator can test an idea, where a researcher can see knowledge translated into practice, and where communities can actively participate in shaping their own futures. Recognizing that technology alone cannot solve society’s challenges, the organization intentionally wove leadership development and entrepreneurial thinking into its work, ensuring that solutions are not only created but sustained.
Through partnerships across universities, industry, and global networks, Logel Science Foundation has continued to build bridges - connecting insight with action, and ambition with opportunity. Each initiative, each collaboration, and each learner engaged adds another chapter to a story driven by one belief: that when knowledge, leadership, and innovation move together, they create pathways for inclusive progress and lasting impact for generations to come.
