Introduction

Logel Science Foundation has been operating and continues to operate, in Uganda since 2001. The organization as a research and development project which was code named “Log'el project”. This project was initially supported by the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) through the Presidential Innovation Fund – which fund was put in place to support the upcoming and existing innovators whose efforts were to develop and implement innovations geared towards offsetting societal challenges in real-life experiences.

Following the successful completion of the project, the entity transitioned into a fully-fledged Not-for-Profit Organization which was named, “LOGEL SCIENCE FOUNDATION”. Logel Science Foundation was established on the basis of working to create and sustain the relationship that bonds research led innovation, technology development and entrepreneurship so that they harnessed to address societal and humanity concerns in a holistic and sustainable manner.

Context

Uganda’s core development potentials are mainly found in agricultural sector, entrepreneurship and trade which are catalyzed by technology-led innovation. Uganda’s population is largely comprised of the youth who make 78% and given that this segment is highly educated, energetic, talented and first technology adopters. It can be relied upon to critically drive the development process to success with certainty.

In this regard Logel science foundation intends to strengthen and deepen its efforts of working with the youth and other key stakeholder to ensure that technology, innovations and entrepreneurship are well utilized to impact and transform society.
