As facts have it, creating, promoting and advancing innovations in Africa has been and still continues to be, a persisting challenge that however, needs to be overcome sooner than later. It is worth remembering that today; Africa lags behind in almost all sectors of development despite the glaring fact that it is a continent which is endowed with huge amounts of natural resources. For example, Africa is well known for its vast riches in biodiversity (both flora and fauna), human-friendly climate and, huge deposits of minerals apart from the fact that the continent covers 60% of the worlds arable land.
On the other hand however, evidence from Developed and Emerging Economies indicates that to be effective, key development mechanisms have to go through the thorough processes of formulation, implementation and, advancement whereby advancement implies rigorous reviews and updates of whatever mechanism is developed and utilized. Unfortunately, these processes hardly exist within development practices in Africa as well as in other developing societies. Instead, most innovative initiatives are mentioned and given one-off recognition during passing events.
